Cotton with wide applications is one of the most important agricultural products in the world and the raw material of the textile industry. Cottonseed oil is used in the oil industry and its meal is used in animal feed . Several other important products are extracted from cotton, the most important of which is the linter required by the military industry. The export of this product is highly profitable, and some countries have dubbed this product “white gold.
This crop is cultivated in more than 60 countries and occupies 5.2% of the world’s arable land. The world is involved in the export and import of this product. The value of world cotton production in 2019 is about $ 60 billion and the area under cultivation is about 33 million hectares.
Most of the cultivated area is reported in India at 12.600, the United States at 4.130 and China at 3.367 million hectares.
Global production is 25.682 million tons and the largest producing countries in the world are China with 6.040 million tons, India with 5.350 million tons and the United States with 3.9999 million tons.
The average harvest of cotton fibers in the world is 778 kg per hectare and the major cotton producing countries, Turkey with 1879, China with 1794 and Brazil with 1685 kg of fibers per hectare are ranked first to third in the world
The world’s imports of cotton are 9.219 million tons and the largest importers are China (2.100 million tons), Bangladesh (1.544 million tons) and Vietnam (1.510 million tons), respectively.
Global cotton exports are 9.079 million tons and the United States (3.214 million tons), Brazil (1.310 million tons) and India (0.800 million tons) are the world’s largest exporters, respectively.

In recent decades, the production of cotton in Iran has been accompanied by a decrease and this has led Iran to change from a cotton exporter to an importer. At present, about 50% of the cotton needed by Iran is produced domestically, and the import of various types of cotton in 1398 was equal to 9500 tons. 90 cases of cotton cultivation in Iran are machine and 10% success.
The company has been importing cotton and yarn from Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and India since 2010.
